Overview

The Draco CVDs are a premium CVD option for your HPI Savage Flux or Nitro or Super 5SC Flux. The CVDs feature an optimized CVD joint for durability and strength with additional material in key areas. Made from impact resistant 4340 Alloy Steel and then heat treated to achieve the optimal hardness ensuring reduced wear and longevity.

The Draco CVDs include custom wheel Hexes which are the industry standard 17mm hexes that match the width and stance of the HPI Savage XL, this opens up many wheel and tyre options for your truck.

Available as a pair including 17mm hexes with the option of 24mm hexes.


Please note: When using larger 5th Scale wheels and tyres, parts wear increases due to the extra weight.

Draco CVDs 2025

  • Draco CVDs with 17mm Hexes

    The Draco CVDs come with 17mm Hexes for your Savage. This gives you a wide range of aftermarket wheel options.

  • Draco CVDs with 24mm Hexes

    This option includes the 24mm hexes for the Baja wheels and other 5th scale wheel and tyre options.

    Please note that larger wheels will increase wear on the CVD components and reduce the life of these components.

  • CVD Driveshaft

    With a shaft thickness of 6mm these drive shafts can handle the torque and power of today’s 6S flux systems and of course are totally suitable for the Savage X4.6 or the power of the LRP .32 nitro engine. The drive shafts are only compatible with the HPI Super HD outdrives with an 11mm diameter.

    This set up retains the steering and suspension travel of a stock HPI Savage but with extra durability and strength. The new version now includes captured 3x16mm steel pins allowing you to remove and replace easily when worn simply by loosening the set screw and removing the pin and inserting a new one. This is made easier with a flat area ideal for a 5.5mm wrench.

  • CVD Axle

    The axle has a captured dowel pin which keeps the 17mm or 24mm hex in place when removing the wheel you do not need to worry about losing small pins again. The axle attaches to the drive shaft via one 3x17mm bearing steel dowel pin and a M5x5mm set screw captures the pin keeping the assembly together. There are 4 pairs of holes where this mounts. Once the CVD wears one set of holes then the pin can be moved to another set of holes.

  • CVD Joint Coupler

    This part retains the 3x17mm pin inside the assembly. There will be a M4x4 set screw that captures the pin, and this can be accessed through the unused mounting holes in the axle. With locktite added to the screw, the pin will not fallout.

  • 17mm Hex and 17mm Nut

    Using Aluminum 7075-T6 making this part is light and strong. The hex now has the spacer incorporated into the hex as one piece, simplifying the removal of the wheels without losing small components like pins. The nut has a serrated surface to keep the wheel nut from coming loose.

  • 24mm Hex and 24mm Nut

    Like the 17mm hex, the 24mm hex is made of 7075-T6 Aluminum and has a one-piece design giving a more rigid set-up for those larger wheels. This part is a complete replacement for the stock spacer, hex nut and locking nut and also comes with a serrated nut for peace of mind.

    This is a rebuild kit for one pair of Draco CVDs. This kit is customized for the CVDs paired with the 17mm Hexes and includes all parts needed to refresh the CVDs.
